ADDING SECTION 5.36.116, TO THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL
CODE, TO ALLOW SPECIAL EXCEPTIONS TO OPEN CONTAINER
ORDINANCE BY PERMIT
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City
of Laurel, Montana, that Section 5.36.116 is hereby added to
the Laurel Municipal Code, to read as follows:
Section 5.36.116. Special Permits for Public Drinkinq
and Display of Alcoholic Beverages.
A special permit for the purpose of permitting public
drinking and public display of alcoholic beverages on a
specific date and at a specific time, and in a specific
location only, shall be allowed by the City Council, subject to
approval by the Mayor, when it is determined by the Council
that the general public welfare or special circumstances
warrant such exception. The applicant for such special permit
shall have his request placed upon the agenda of a regularly
scheduled council meeting at least five (5) days prior to the
said meeting. The applicant shall appear before the Council at
the meeting date to answer any questions of the Council. The
Council may impose such conditions upon the granting of the
permit as it deems necessary for the preservation of the peace
and for the protection of city property and other surrounding
property.
This ordinance shall be effective Thirty (30) days
after final passage and approval.
