HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board Minutes 08.27.1987 Minutes of the Laurel Public Library Board of Trustees DATE- August 27, 1987 1 : ZO p.m. ATTENDING-Campbell Caivert(presiding), Adele Zink, Bonnie Preikszas, Peggy Arnold MINUTE -read and approved COMMUNICATIONS- -Adele received a letter from the Montana Committee for the Humanities and a letter from the Stillwater Mining Company concerning grants. Ktruni OF THE LIBRARIAN-Traffic for Juiy 87 was 2463, down 7% from July 86, up 4% from June 87. Circulation for Juiy 87 was 4878, down ii. from Juiy 80, up oh from June of 80. COMMITTEE REPORTT S- P.A.L.S. -Next meeting is Sept.i0,1887 at the Parmly Billings Library. Trust -The Laurel Library Trust has received 4/c10wi from Deluxe Check Printers. UNFINISHED BUSINESS -The fetters to pioneer families informing Them of the memorial program have been mailed. NEW BUSINESS -it was maved,seconded, and passed to make a /1 memorial from the board members in memory of Gene Williams sister Betty H. Pope nrtuHlitut AGREEMENT-Joe Bradieyicity attorney), Jim rlisrandicity building inspector), and Chuck GoidyiCBG Architects) joined the meeting at this time. Joe would like to have Article 8 concerning arbitration crossed out of the agreement. Arbitration is too time consuming and disputes may be taken to court instead. Jim Flisrand stated that he makes the building inspections and likes to be at the sight of larger projects so that the contractor is aware of his presence. He is at the site sometimes three times a day if necessary. Article 1.5.4 states That the architect is not responsible for any deficiencies and defects of the contractor, but is there to find them and guard against them for the owner. Chuck Goldy staled that he is generally on the sight sometimes three times a week and as much as necessary. Campbell Calvert had to leave at this time. Joe Bradley said the board now needs to make and pass a motion to accept the agreement. A blank copy should be kept with the minutes and the other copy should be signed by the chairman.
