HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board - 1988 LAUREL PUBLIC LIBRARY 115 West First Street Laurel,Mt. 59044 ADDRESS TO THE PARMLY BILLINGS JOINT CITY - COUNTY LIBRARY May 25, 1988 The Laurel Public Library Board feels an obligation to the Yellowstone County residents we have been serving since 1976. The area we serve goes beyond the 41/2 miles of the City County planning area, west to the Stillwater County line -6 miles, south to the Carbon County line -6 miles, east to 56th St. W. -4 miles, and north 8 miles. The Parmly Billings Joint City- County Library Board has recognized our usefulness in serving this area since they have been entering into this financial arrangement since 1976. Is the Joint City- County Library considering elimination of any other 'double library service opportunities', such as bookmobile service to county residents or is the Laurel county area the only county area you are considering elimination of 'double library service opportunities'? Elimination of this contract will result in reducing the hours the Laurel Public Library is open. A proportionate cut will be made in the book budget and staff hours. The Laurel Public Library Board is willing to negotiate the contract amounts to share in the reduction of county revenues. We would like to keep a working relationship between the Parmly Billings Joint City - Cbunty Library and the Laurel Public Library. LAUREL PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
