AMENDING SECTION 2.04.020, ELECTIVE AND
APPOINTIVE OFFICES, OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL
CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel that
Section 2.04.020 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2.04.020 Elective and Appointive Offices. The
officers of the City consist of one Mayor, two aldermen from
each ward, one City Judge, one City Treasurer, who may be
ex officio tax collector, who must be elected by the qualified
electors of the City as provided in Ch. 2.32. There may
also be appointed by the Mayor, with his advice and consent of
the Council, one City Clerk, who is ex officio City Assessor,
one Chief of Police, one City Attorney, and any other officer
necessary to carry out the provisions of this title. The
City Council may prescribe the duties of all City officers
and fix their compensation subject to the limitations con-
tained in the municipal ordinances and State law. (Deriva-

Introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council on
March 3 1987, by Alderman Dickerson
PASSED by the Laurel City Council and APPROVED by the
Mayor this day of 1987.
This ordinance shall become effective 30 days after
final passage by the Laurel City Council.

ORDINANCE N0. 905
AMENDING SECTION 2.08.080, CITY ENGINEER,
OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel that
Section 2.08.080 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2.08.080 City Engineer. The Mayor shall appoint,
with the consent and approval of the Council, a City Engineer,
whose term of office shall be for a period of two years or
for such shorter periods as may be designated in the appoint-
ment and until his successor shall be duly appointed and
qualified. The position of City Engineer shall be a salaried
position. The City Engineer's salary shall be established
by resolution of the Council. The City Engineer shall not
be subject to any residency requirements within the City
limits.

AMENDING SECTION 2.08.120, MAINTENANCE
DIRECTOR, OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel that
Section 2.08.120 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2.08.120 Maintenance Director. The Maintenance
Director shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and
consent of the Council for a period of two (2) years or for
such shorter periods as may be designated in the appointment
and until his successor is appointed. The position of
Maintenance Director shall be a salaried position. The
Maintenance Director's salary shall be established by resolu-
tion of the Council. The Maintenance Director shall not be
subject to any residency requirements within the City limits.

WORKS, OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel that
Section 2.08.125 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2.08.125 Director of Public Works. The Director
of Public Works shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the con-
sent and advice of the Council, for a period of two years or
for such shorter periods as may be designated in the appointment
and until his successor shall be duly appointed and qualified.
The position of Director of Public Works shall be a salaried
position. The Director of Public Works salary shall be
established by resolution of the Council. The Director of
Public Works shall not be subject to any residency requirements
within the City limits.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel that
Section 2.08.140 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2.08.140 Public Utilities Director. A Public
Utilities Director shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the
advice and consent of the Council for a period of two (2)
years or for such shorter periods as may be designated in
the appointment and until his successor is appointed. The
position of Public Utilities Director shall be a salaried
