BOARD OF TRUSTEES DEC. 3, 1997
Attending- Shirley Cahill (presiding), Katherine Kucera, Donna Kilpatrick,
Marilyn Minch, Sue Carter, Peggy Arnold
Minutes- read,corrected, and approved
Coorespondence -Sue Jackson, Federal Grants Consultant for the Montana
State Library , contacted Peggy concerning their delay in sending the
reimbursement for LSCA funds. The delay was due to the closing of the
LSCA agency and the creation of LSTA.
Circulation-Traffic for November 97 was 1,292 down 3% from November 96.
Circulation for for November 97 was 2,763 down 7% from November 96.
Old Business -Peggy reported on Children's Book week and the upcoming
Holiday Crafts program on December 8. There was discussion about
cooperation with the Laurel School libraries and how the Laurel Public
Library serves students and teachers.
New Business -A motion was passed to charge patrons $1 to share in return
postage costs for each book borrowed Through interlibrary ioan. A motion
was passed to close the library at 3 p.m. on Dec 24 and at 5 p.m. on Dec.
31. Donna staled that the city budget committee wiii start the budget
process sooner and the board should become more involved since she is
no conger on the budget committee and will not be on the city council after
Dec. 31. Copies of the budget worksheet will be given to board members
as soon as Peggy receives them.
