AMENDING THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF
THE CEMETERY COMMISSION REGARDING VETERAN'S
MARKERS
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel:
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CEMETERY COMMISSION
REGULATIONS IN REGARD TO GRAVE
MARKERS IN LAUREL CEMETERY
SECTION B
Section B - Bevel Style or Flat Markers only shall be allowed.
DOUBLE MARKER
A) Marker must be at least 42 inches long and no more than
68 inches long.
B) Marker width shall be at least 12 inches and no more
than 14 inches wide.
C) Marker height for bevel style shall be at least 6 inches
but no more than 8 inches in back sloping to the front.
SINGLE MARKER
A) Marker must be at least 24 inches long and no more than
30 inches long.
B) Marker width shall be at least 12 inches and no more
than 14 inches wide.
C) Marker height for bevel style shall be at least 6 inches
but no more than 8 inches in back sloping to the front.
Foundations shall follow regulations for all double and
single markers as previously set by the Cemetery Board.
VETERAN MARKERS Section J
The foundation for veteran markers used as headstones
must follow regulations for single markers regarding length,
width and depth of concrete.
Veteran markers that are used as foot markers must be
level with the ground and set in a proper foundation.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council
on October 7 , 1986, by Alderman Dickerson
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council and
APPROVED by the Mayor this 21st day of October , 1986.

This ordinance shall become effective 30 days after
final passage by the Laurel City Council.
