ORDINANCE NO. 986
ADDING SECTION 5.09.010 TO THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL
CODE REQUIRING ALL CONTRACTORS TO BE BONDED.

_ao-j~ ction 5.09.010. Bonding requirements for contractors.
- r~ Every contractor shall furnish a bond to the City in
the amount as prescribed by council resolution with
surety, to be approved by the City Attorney and the City
Council, conditioned that all work performed by the
contractor will comply with the requirements of the city
ordinances. The City or any person damaged by the failure
of such contractor to comply with such requirements may
sue in his or her own name and for his or her own benefit
on the bond.
2) This article is not intended to apply to a person
or homeowner engaged in repairing or roofing a building
or home owned by the person or homeowner.
This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days
after final passage of the City Council and approval by the
Mayor.
Introduced on first reading at a regular meeting of the
City Council on August 6, 1991, by Alderman Marshall.
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second
reading this 20th day of August, 1991, upon a motion by
Alderman
APPROVED by the Mayor of the City of Laurel on the
day of 1991.
