Board Meeting Minutes
The Meeting was held on August 11 at Sid's. In attendance were: Executive Board Members: Acting President - John
Mataisz, Secretary Joanne Flynn and her assistant Marda Hafner. Directors: Linda Frid<el, Jim Taylor, Bryan Wood,
Nancy Metzger, Kammy Thurman, Steve Yates, and Alternate Joe Statser. Members: Jodi Chapman, Michelle
Thompson, Katie Fjelstad and Amber Schreiner.
John called the meeting to order.
The minutes were approved: moved to approve - Linda, 2"d - Amber.
The finandal report was approved and bills were presented for payment: moved to approve - Bryan, 2" - Steve.
NEW BUSINESS
• Election of Officers - There was discussion of how to fill the positions we now have empty.
o John will move into the office of President, moved by Linda, 2 " - Kammy. Approved.
o Linda nominated Nancy Metzger as V.P. Moved by Katie, 2' - Kammy. Approved.
o Steve agreed to take the Co -V.P. Moved by Jim, 2 - Katie .
o Amber & Jodi will fill the two board positions. Moved by Jim, 2 " - Bryan. Approved.
• New Members - We sent out 22 invitations to new businesses in Laurel. If you have signed up
to encourage a business to become a Chamber Member, please follow up with them.
• Ribbon Cutting - There will be a ribbon cutting at Winterholler Dentistry after this meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
• Spotlight on Business - Always looking for new.
• Farmers' Market - The new rule has been applied giving members in good standing a $25 max.
payment. Joanne sent a letter to Greg Johnson telling of the new rules.
• Repairs to Visitors Sign - Schessler's got back to Joanne. They gave us a name of a man who
could do the job. They said they will donate the concrete and help with lifting the sign.
• Old Copy Machine - The lease company accepted the minimum amount of $118.31 for the old
machine. It is now in the back room and may be used by the public (@ 10 cents per copy).
OPEN FORUM
• Website Rotation Ads - We have not had much interest this quarter. There is no way from our
end to tell how many times visitors are clicking on these ads. Kammy spoke of a program that
produces a pop up when a visitor leaves our site that will offer coupons. Bryan suggested a
promotion added to the Ad that offers a discount if they present it to the business. Marcia said she
liked the idea of a promotion, but would like to see the pop up program first before suggesting its
use to the board.
• Business Hours - Linda brought up that there are times when no one is manning the Chamber
Office. She suggested that the business hours should be posted so they are easy to see.

Old Printer - I think we have the old printer sold for $150.00 to Dean at Ace Hardware.

Sunday, August 28th. 6 - 8 u.m. "Show Tunes on Pennsylvania Avenue" Raising funds for the Town
Square Awning Project.

October 8 - Drawing for Camaro - in remembrance of Leo Duran presented by "Sudden Cardiac
Arrest Association" - equipment to be distributed in Laurel.
