Laurel Outlook newspaper has a new reporter, Jennifer Ries
Dean reported on Laurel Alive and Rock the Block. There was a good turn out and the band was good. A
check is being issued for the power to the Caboose
Heidi has opened the question of parking across Main Street. Laurel Movie House is working on a new
facade and service window for ice cream and tables on the sidewalk. The maximum LURA can pay is
$3,000 because their bill will only be about $6,000 and LURA pays 50 %. We need to look into revising
wording on the applications for Facade and Technical Assistance to make sure the business
owner /property owner pays their 50 %.
Shirley said we should be pricing 1) trash recepticals even though the cost may be coming out of Laurel
Alive and 2) we should be trying to get a grant for the awning for the Mural.
The sidewalk and tree project is coming along. We are looking into copying another tree /sidewalk
program.
Dean says S. 4th street should have the last hook -up 7 -19. Tri County is in question, Quick Lube is for sale
and the new OReillys is already hooked up. Castlerock is doing a good job.
Shirley E. said the estimate for paving the road came in $126,000 higher than previously quoted. The
City would like the paving to be completed by 10 -31 -2011. A letter is going out to each property owner
stating what their share of the paving will be and what their monthly payment will be.
A motion was made to Approve the Fagade application for Laurel Movie Theater and is passed. Nash
from High Plains needs to look at their plan to make sure it fits with the City Planning.
Further discussion on cross walks was brought up to see if they would quality for TIF funding.
