MAIN STREET Members present: Shirley McDermott, Dean Rankin, Bruce McGee, Daniel Klein Advisors present: Aletta Zimmerman, Steve Zeier Others present: Bill Kampfer, Linda Frickel, Tom Nelson, Zak Allread Minutes approved for last two meetings. Laurel Alive held the second Rock The Block and the third is coming this Friday. The Caboose has had the trees planted and Northwest Energy sent a bill for $1,900 for hooking up the power. New trash containers are in Town Square. They are working on plans for the awning over the Mural, the bushes have been trimmed and mulched. The gravel area has been cleaned up as well. Laurel Chamber is getting ready for the 4 of July. Parade applications are coming in, pot holes will be filled that are on the parade route and patrons for the football game are being lined up. Dean says they are much closer to completing contracts for the road work on S. 4 and work should start after the 4 of July. All but 3 owners should be on board and the work should be completed in about 2 weeks and hopefully the paving can be completed this summer. The Laurel Outlook has a new reporter and hopefully we can get her to attend at least once in a while. Unfinished business: projects for the future, some priority projects: 1) Parking for tenants, customers and employees 2) Blighted buildings 3) Look into parking behind unused buildings 4) Do we need the City to looking into the parking needs for the TIF district? Meetings will now be held the 1 and 3rd Mondays of the month so we can act faster on items before us. New business: review the Facade and Technical Assistance programs to review applications presented. We should have 3 or 4 people to meet with applicants. Daniel, Dean and Linda have volunteered and Heidi will be the advisor. We need to develop specific plans for the property on the south side of Main to present to the Railroad for a possible long term lease. The look for specifics.
