Minutes:
The minutes for April were presented and approved.
Correspondence:
A certified letter was sent by James Foley stating that his mother, Mary Foley, has bequeathed
$200 to the Laurel Public Library.
Circulation Report:
Traffic: down 28.4 %; circulation: all items circulated went up 22.4 %, book circulation rose 23.5%,
media circulation rose 18.9; computers: internet use down 30 %, children's use down 41%, wi -fi
use down 47.3%; patron cards: city patrons registered is 77.9% of total cards issued, county
patrons represent 12.2% of total cards issued, and other patrons represent 9.8 %.
Old Business:
Nathan will contact MSU- Billings business students about setting up the foundation for the
Laurel Public Library. He will report at the next meeting.
A letter was sent to the Road Runners 4 -H Club concerning the library flower gardens and the
Summer Reading Program. Nancy stated that she requested an answer back by May 20, 2011.
Ashley is working Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday of each week to help patrons with any
computer questions they may have. We may need to adjust her schedule based upon patron
needs.
New Business:
The budget meeting for the library has been set for May 31 at 5:30 pm with the
Budget /Finance Committee. Bruce, Clair and Nathan expressed interest in attending the
meeting with Nancy.
Nancy attended the Montana Shared Catalog training in Missoula on May 5th & 6 th. The cost of
our catalog is going up over 60 %. The cost formula is based on number of patrons, number of
items in the catalog, and a percentage of shared costs for all libraries.
There was discussion concerning the Spring Book Sale. Nancy stated that the remodel and
subsequent chaos has resulted in the Book Sale being pushed back to June. It was decided that
the Sale would be delayed until after Parmly Billings Library has their sale in September or
October.
Other:
Summer Reading Program starts June 1, 2011 and runs through August 17, 2011.
