Our current 80/20 and 70/30 plans both have renewal increases of 13.5 %. Kurt asked Dave Allen
if BCBS would provide the city with a different option for our second plan that would provide
premium relief. Two different options were provided. Option 2b is a 70/30 plan with a renewal
increase of 8.28% and Option 2c is a 60/40 plan with an increase of 3.17 %.
Based on the family plan for health insurance, the current 70/30 plan would be an increase of
approximately $1721 per year, Option 2b increase would be $961 per year and Option 2c increase
would be $232 per year.
Kurt asked Donnie to take this back to the union and see which plan they would like to see
offered as our second option.
The committee will meet on Tuesday, May 31 at 3:30 p.m. The resolution will go to the Council
Workshop on Tuesday night and they will have both options. The insurance committee will make
a recommendation by Thursday, June 2 " and the information will be included in the council
packets.
The meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
