Minutes:
The minutes for March were presented and approved.
Correspondence:
None
Circulation Report:
Traffic: down 6 %; circulation: total circulation of all items went up 8 %, books were up 12 %,
media items down 11 %; computers: internet use down 11 %, children's use down 83 %, wi -fi use
down 4 %; patron cards: city patrons registered is 79% of total cards issued, county patrons
represent 13% of total cards issued, other patrons represent 1%.
Old Business:
Nathan was unable to attend the meeting because of his class schedule and will report at a later
date. Nancy will schedule a Foundation meeting for May 16 at 6:00 p.m. after she obtains the
list of names from Nathan.
The letter to the 4 -H group is ready and just needs to be sent.
Ashley Ray was hired as the part-time IT clerk at the library. There was no response from the
students at MSU- Billings for work study. Ashley will work 3 days per week for 5 hours each day.
New Business:
There were no questions concerning the budget at this time. Final budget from the Library was
handed in to Shirley on March 15 A meeting will be set for the library to present their budget
numbers to the Budget /Finance Committee at a later date.
MontanaLibrary2Go will not become part of the Laurel Library catalog. If interest increases and
the costs become lower we may consider adding this feature at a later date.
After some discussion, it was decided that we would not pursue a City mill levy at this time.
Nancy will discuss with Shirley the costs to Laurel homeowners of a mill levy and present them
at a later date.
Nancy attended most of the MLA Conference in Billings. It was informational with some
workshops being more interesting than other. There were two sessions that seemed to more
significant to the library than any others at this time: Hiring the best "fit" for your library and
The Workplace Bully.
Nancy is planning to attend the Montana Shared Catalog meeting in Missoula on May 5th & 6th
Other:
The annual Laurel Federated Women's Club Easter Play and Egg Hunt will be held Wednesday,
April 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
