Dear City Council Members:
The Laurel Chamber of Commerce would like to request permission to hold the annual Grand
Parade on Monday, July 4, 2011, at 11:00 The parade will begin Tine -up on 7th Ave.
The parade route will be as follows: Beginning on 7th Ave and running down East Main Street,
turning right on Colorado - Turning left onto 1 Street, then turning right onto 1 Ave.
Continue to and then turning left onto 7th St, turning right on 3 Ave, right again on 9th St and
into the Laurel High School. . We will ask the Laurel Police Department to lead the parade.
We would also like to request permission to hold the annual Chief Joseph Run on July 4, 2011 at
7 a.m. Registration for this 8 -mile run, 4 -mile run, 2 -mile run, 4 -mile walk, and 2 -mile walk will
be set up at the NEW SPORTS STADIUM at 6:00 a.m. The runners will begin there, travel north
on First Avenue, turn around at the different water stations, and end back at the Sports
Stadium. Awards will be given out at the Stadium at 8 a.m. We will have people set up for
traffic control and will put the barricades up if needed
In addition we also request permission to hold a Food and Craft Fair in the pool parking lot on 1st
Ave and on the first 300 feet of 8th Ave. and possibly have a few overflow vendors on the west
end and north side of 6 Street at Thompson Park. We would like to request that the pool
parking lot be blocked off on Friday evening to allow us the weekend to prepare for the vendors.
The Chamber will provide NO Parking Signs for the barricades.
The Chamber agrees to supply porta- potties in the amount of $1,500.00 for all of the above
stated events.
If more information is needed, please do not hesitate to contact the Chamber office at
628 -8105. No response is needed if you are in agreement with these plans. If you are not in
agreement, please contact the office as soon as possible.
