ADDING SECTION 9.22.040 TO THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE,
RESTRICTING PLACEMENT OF TOBACCO VENDING MACHINES, AND
PROHIBITING TO8ACCO PRODUCT SAMPLING IN PUBLIC PLACES
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the
Laurel, Montana, that Section 9.22.040
Municipal Code, as follows:

is hereby added to the Laurel
Section 9.22.040. Restricting placement of tobacco vending
machines~ and prohibiting sample distributions on public property.
(1) Tobacco products may be sold through a vending machine
only in the following locations:
(a) Factories, businesses, offices, and other places not
open to the general public;
(b) Places to which minors are not permitted access;
(c) Places where alcoholic beverages are offered for sale;
(d) Places where the vending machine is under the immediate
supervision of the owner or an employee of the establishment.
(2) It is unlawful for a person to engage in tobacco
product sampling in or on any public park, street or sidewalk.
(3) Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished in
accordance with Section 1.36.010 of this Code.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after
final passage by the City Council and approval by the mayor.
Introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting
of the City Council on December 15 , 1992 by Alderman
Collins
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second
reading this 5th day of January , 1993, upon motion of
Alderman Kelloqg
