HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. O10-05 ORDINANCE NO. 010 -05 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 10.52.020 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE TITLED "RESERVED PARKING AT CITY HALL- PARKING BY NON -CITY EMPLOYEES PROHIBITED" TO CREATE FOUR RESERVED PARKING SPACES ADJACENT TO THE FIRE, AMBULANCE AND POLICE (FAP) BUILDING FOR EMS EMPLOYEES LOCATED AT CHAPTER 10 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE. WHEREAS, the Mayor and Staff of the City's Emergency Services have recognized that attendants and employees of the Laurel Ambulance have experienced difficulty located parking adjacent to the City's FAP Building while responding to medical emergencies; and WHEREAS, the City Council has the authority to designate reserved parking pursuant to Sections 10.48.210 and 10.52.020 of the Laurel Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City's Staff are recommending the designation of four reserved parking spaces adjacent to the City's FAP Building to avoid unnecessary delay in the future; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that designating the recommended reserved parking spaces is in the best interest of the City of Laurel and Section 10.52.020 is amended as follows: 10.52.020 Reserved parking at city hall and the city's fire, ambulance and police building "FAP Building"— Parking by non-city employees prohibited. A. The following described parking spaces are reserved for the exclusive use of city employees working at city hall between the hours of seven a.m. and six p.m., Monday through Friday, inclusive. Parking of vehicles by all other persons is prohibited in the following designated areas: 1. Reserved parking spaces located on the west side of the alley adjacent to Laurel City Hall, said alley running from West First Street to West Third Street, in the middle of the block between First Avenue and Second Avenue, and spaces as posted for City Hall employees. New Section: B. The following described parking spaces are reserved at all times for the exclusive use of city ambulance employees and volunteer attendants when responding to an emergency call for assistance at the City's FAP Building. Parking of vehicles by all other persons is prohibited in the following designated areas: 1. Two reserved parking spaces on West 2nd Street, near the intersection of West 2" Street and 3` Avenue and two reserved parking spaces on 3` Avenue near the intersection of 3` Avenue and West 2 " Street. All four reserved spaces shall be adjacent to the FAP Building and posted with appropriate signs pursuant to Section 10.48.040(C). 010 -05 Ambulance Parking at FAP (Ord. 977, 1990: prior code § 10.68.015) This Ordinance becomes effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. Introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on December 21, 2010, by Council Member Hart PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second reading this 18 day of January, 2011, upon motion of Council Member Poehls APPROVED BY THE MAYOR this 18 day of January, 2011.
