AMENDING SECTION 5.28.040 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL
CODE, PA'vVNBROY.ER REGISTER.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel,
Montana, that Section 5.28.040 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Section_5.28.040. Regulating_~awnbroker registers.
A. Any person that carries on the business of pawn-
broker or valuable article dealer shall keep a
register in a form prescribed by the City, in
which shall be entered and legibly written in
the English language in ink, at the time of each
loan or receipt of personal property, the fol-
lowing information: The name, address, and date
of birth of the seller, and the seller's drivers
license number or other identification number from
any other allowed form or identifiaction pursuant
• to Section 5.28.060; the date, time and place of
the purchase;an accurate and detailed account and
description of each article being purchased, in-
cluding, but not limited to, any trademark, ident-
ification number, serial number, model number,
brand name or other identifying marks on such
article; and a description by weight and design of
precious and semi-precious metals or stones. The
purchaser shall also obtain a written declaration
of the seller's ownership which shall state
whether the article is totally owned by the seller
how long the seller has owned the article, whether
the seller or someone else found the article, and
if the article was found, the details of its
finding. No entry made in such register shall be
erased, obliterated or defaced.

• B. The seller shall sign his or her name in the
register and on the declaration of the seller's
ownership.
C. Such register shall, at all reasonable times, be
open to inspection by the City.
D. The purchaser shall keep each register for at
least two (2) years after the last date of pur-
chase of an article described therein.
This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after
final passage of the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
