Old Business:
Nathan gave a report on his progress with the development of the Library Foundation. He has contacted
a CPA and a lawyer that may be interested in helping with the creation of the Foundation. Nathan stated
that a letter of interest needed to be sent to members of the community to help generate interest in the
Library Foundation. Nathan asked that each of the Board Members bring a list of people that they feel
would be interested in helping create a Foundation Board. Bruce McCullough would create a Mission
Statement for the new Library Foundation and bring it to the next meeting. It was suggested that one or
all of the Friends of the Library be part of the Foundation Board. Nathan will arrange a meeting with
Priscilla to continue development of the Library Foundation. A possible meeting for Board organization
would be set for November 2, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.
The Internet Use Policy has been revised and passed along to the attorney for the City of Laurel to
review and approve.
Christy has left a letter stating that she would not be able to attend tonight's meeting and asking that
we change the next meeting to October 19, 2010 instead of October 12, 2010. Since Nancy was going to
be out of town on October 12 Bruce motioned that the next regular meeting be moved to October 19,
2010; Dixie seconded.
The library now has Teleconferencing capabilities that is available for public use. Besides the monthly
techTuesday meetings the AVTCC will be used for training by the EMT class and possibly the Hometown
Troops for Thanksgiving.
New Business:
The library received a check from the Montana State Library as part of the state aid per capita in the
amount of $631.95.
The next South Central Federation meeting is September 18, 2010 at the Parmly Billings Library. Bruce
and Nathan expressed interest in attending the meeting.
Nancy stated that she is planning on attending the MSL Fall Workshop that is being held in Great Falls
next week — September 23 -25, 2010. She will leave on Thursday and return Saturday evening. Nancy will
also be out of town October 6 & 7th for Montana Shared Catalog training in Great Falls, October 12 &

There will be a Trustee training in Billings October 19, 2010 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm that everyone is
encouraged to attend.
Bridgett Johnson from the State Library has requested that we look at the circulation rules for our library
and decide which rules we wanted to adopt to bring our library in line with other libraries in the Shared
Catalog. It was suggested that we change to a 28 -day checkout with 2 renewals, no grace period, $5
maximum fines, and a maximum of 5 media items per card. All Board members present agreed to these
changes. Nancy will contact Bridgett to let her know which changes we agreed upon.
Bruce brought to the Board's attention that someone was concerned about a rumor stating the library
had 'fired' the 4 -H group and was planning on hiring someone to take care of the flower gardens at the
library. It was suggested that a letter be sent by the Board Chair and Director to the current 4 -H director
to explain the situation.
