HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. O10-04 ORDINANCE NO. 010-04 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12.08.070 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE TITLED "CURB CUT LENGTHS" LOCATED AT CHAPTER 12 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE. WHEREAS, the City Council desires to keep the Laurel Municipal Code current and enforceable by updating sections and subsections that are outdated and no longer useful or enforceable; and WHEREAS, the City's Public Works Committee and Staff identified an issue in Chapter 12.08.070 that needs modification by the City Council in order to fairly regulate new construction within the City Limits; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that adopting the suggested amendments is in the best interest of the City of Laurel follows: 12.08.070 Curb cut lengths. A. In single - family residential zoned districts, the maximum driveway width shall be twenty-four thirty feet and shall be located in accordance with city specifications or drawings. B. In any multifamily and professional zoned districts, the maximum driveway width shall not exceed twenty -four thirty feet and shall be located in accordance with city specifications or drawings. The minimum distance between curb cuts shall be twenty -five feet. C. In any commercial and industrial zoned districts, the maximum driveway width shall be twenty -four thirty feet except driveway widths for service stations and trucking businesses may be up to forty feet when approved by the city building inspector /city engineer, and shall be located in accordance with city specifications and drawings. The minimum distance between curb cuts shall be twenty -five feet. D. In any allowable location, no driveway width shall be less than twelve feet wide. E. Frontages of sixty feet or less shall be limited to one driveway. Not more than two driveways shall be provided to any single property tract or business establishment, except when approved by the city building inspector /city engineer. (Ord. 06 -12 (part), 2006; Ord. 06-06 (part), 2006; prior code § 11.08.070) This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City Council and approved by the Mayor.
