• Public Input—None
• Update on benches—The benches are in and were delivered to the city shop.
• Work force to install benches—Chuck said he is looking for volunteers to help assemble the
benches at the city shop and install them at the gathering area. Chuck asked Kurt if there was a
trailer available to put the assembled benches on until they could be installed. Kurt said he would
make one available.
• Program for memorials—Chuck said memorial plaques are available for the benches. They are
made of plastic and can be bolted on the end of the bench. There was discussion about setting a
specific donation amount that would entitle a family or group to designate a bench in honor of a
loved one.
There was further discussion about developing a memorial program for the City of Laurel
Cemetery. It was suggested to do a brochure that would list information on our cemetery and
opportunities for memorial donations.
• Other—Chuck said we are looking at new avenues for getting the podium made.
Kurt said we may be able to get two trees for the gathering area through the Arbor Day grant.
The Tree Board is interested in making the Arbor Day celebration centered around the Veterans
and holding a program at the cemetery to dedicate the trees this spring.
Chuck stated the money for the sprinkling system is in the budget but the budget has not been
passed yet. Kurt said that before we can go forward with a sprinkling system,we need to have 3-
phase power to our pump. It is still unknown whether this is a possibility.
Wally spoke regarding the need for a new mower for the cemetery. Kurt said they are looking at
a Ditch-Witch brand mower. Motion by Wally, seconded by Lee to recommend to the council to
get a new mower for the cemetery. Motion carried.
