Board Meeting Minutes
The Meeting was held on July 22nd at Donna Lea's. In attendance were: Executive Board Members: Vice President
Mary Herr, Co-VP Ken Kaiser, Secretary Joanne Flynn and her assistant Marcia Hafner. Directors: Steve Yates, Nancy
Metzger, and Jim Taylor. Member: Joe Statser.
Ken called the meeting to order.
The minutes were approved: moved to approve - Mary, 2"d - Ken.
The financial report was approved, and it was agreed to not renew the 2 CD's that come due in Aug., but place them in
an account to be used possibly for improving the sign in front of the Chamber cabin. Moved -Jim, 2"d- Steve. Jim
said he could try Travis Moran or a few others to investigate what it would cost to fix the sign.
The bills were presented for payment. Moved to pay - Mary, 2"d - Nancy.
The board voted to approve a $1,000 donation to the city for the Historical Society matching fund grant.
Moved to donate -Jim, 2"d - Nancy.
OLD BUSINESS
■ Spotlight on Business -Joanne asked for more businesses to contribute their information. Nancy
said she would.
■ Farmers' Market- Joanne reported that vendors felt there was no support from the businesses;
business people were not coming in after 5:00. Business has been slow. The 1" week -7 vendors
with $40 income to the chamber.
2"d week - 12 vendors with $71 income to the chamber.
3rd week - 11 vendors with $72 income to the chamber.
We will getting more signs out. The Ad in the Outlook will be bigger and Marcia will get flyers out
to all the businesses.
■ Donation to Shriners - The board had already voted to donate, but no dollar amount was set. It
was moved to donate $150. Mary moved, 2"d - Nancy.
NEW BUSINESS
■ New Members - None at this time. The chamber has been contacted by Metro Rentals.
■ Membership Drive - Joanne will bring a list of non-member businesses to the next meeting.
■ Heritage Days - Aug. 20-21 - Sell quilt tickets and then draw the night of the 215t. We'd like to
display the quilt in different businesses and sell more tickets. United Bank volunteered to display
the quilt.
■ Fall Fund Raiser- Joanne brought up the idea of a fall fund raiser with games for the kids, pie
baking contests, cake walk, etc. She thought it could be an all day affair in Thomson Park, much
like the school fundraiser in Billings. The sports schedule for the school would have to be consulted,
and businesses could each do an activity(?). Mary, Nancy, volunteered themselves and Linda to be
on a committee for this event.
■ Laurel Visitors Guide - The chamber will have to start working on a new visitors' guide and map.
OPEN FORUM
■ Microsoft Office 2007 training - Marcia has applied for a grant through the Incumbent Workers
Training to get $700 worth of training in the new Office programs.
■ Rock the Block - Friday night - The Gold Wingers will be in town this weekend.
■ Business after Hours -.

o October - Yellowstone Bank
