Box 10 CITY OF LAUREL Laurel, MT 59044 Dear City Council Members: The Laurel Chamber of Commerce would like to request permission to hold the annual Grand Parade on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at 12:00 Noon. The parade will begin line -up on 7 Ave. NEW ROUTE - The parade route will be as follows: Beginning on 4 Ave and running down East Main Street, turning right on Idaho. Turning left onto 1 Street, then turning right onto 1st Ave. Continue to and turning left onto 7 St, turning right on 3 Ave, right again on 9 St and into the Laurel High School. . We will ask the Laurel Police Department to lead the parade. We would also like to request permission to hold the annual Chief Joseph Run on July 4, 2010 at 7 a.m. Registration for this 8 -mile run, 4 -mile run, 2 -mile run, 4 -mile walk, and 2 -mile walk will be set up at the NEW SPORTS STADIUM at 6:00 a.m. The runners will begin there, travel north on First Avenue, turn around at the different water stations, and end back at the Sports Stadium. Awards will be given out at the Stadium at 8 a.m. We will have people set up for traffic control and will put the barricades up if needed In addition we also request permission to hold a Food and Craft Fair in the pool parking lot on 1st Ave and on the first 300 feet of 8 Ave. The Chamber agrees to supply porta- potties in the amount of $1,500.00 for all of the above stated events. If more information is needed, please do not hesitate to contact the Chamber office at 628 -8105. Parade - Spectators - Due to complaints from parade entries, we are asking that the public does NOT spray water on any parade entry that is not first spraying the spectators. A lot of time and money goes into the preparation of these entries for the pleasure of the spectators. Some have small children on them, and some are being reused for another parade. So, Please, NO Spraying WATER! Keep Back - Parents, Please keep your children back for their own safety. All attendees please stay back away from the parade entries. Candy and trinkets will be handed out at the curb. Parade Route. Time and Lineup will all be different this year due to construction. The 2010 Parade Route - Start on 4 Ave and West Main, turning left on Idaho, turning left on 1 St, right on 1St Ave, left on 7th St, right on 3rd Ave and right on 9th St, ending at the high school. Line UP Entries will be directed to use 5 and 3 Ave's to get to their assigned parking spots on both sides of 4 Ave. The Chamber is asking the residents not to park on the side streets of 4 Ave Time Change for this year the start time of the parade will be at NOON in consideration of our churches Entry Fees remain the same. Food and Craft Fair Again located on First Ave North, in the lot next to the Pool House and E. Eighth Street. Crafters are encouraged to bring awnings or rent one from Chamber. Electric is limited. Small food vendors and crafters are encouraged to work with grills and coolers or a quiet generator. Chief Joseph Run - NEW - Start and Finish of the Run will be on the new Stadium /track, the rest of the route will remain the same. Entry fees also remain the same. Fireworks - As usual. Entry Forms - anyone needing entry forms for the Run, the Parade or the Food and Craft Fair can pick them up after hours inside the Chamber entry way or during Chamber regular hours. Forms are also available online at www.laurelmontana.org , and will printed in the Laurel Outlook Volunteers Needed -We could use help policing the parade, registering run entries, (early morning) and help with setting up the vendors.
