Members present: Shirley McDermott, Dirk Frickel, Dean Rankin, Daniel Klein, Bruce McGee Advisors present: Janice Lehman, Steve Zeier Others present: Bill Kampfer, Kurt Markegard, Bill Sheridan, James Caniglia Minutes of March 15, 2010 meeting approved as presented James has nothing to report at this time. He did add he will be getting financials from Mary Embleton before she leaves. Bill Sheridan presented Kurt Markegard to discuss the water and sewer situation on West Main St. The City determined there is a sewer pvc line across Main at 2 and 3 with a 4" line going to each location which is a large enough capacity. They will be hiring Ray Cotter to send a camera to examine the line in more detail. There is not water line crossing Main at this time. There is a 3 /4" line on the North side of Main from 1 to 8 Bids went out last week for water to cross West Main and should be returned in about 2 weeks. Water & sewer are mapped and will be given to James to bring to the next meeting. 8 Ave reconstruction starts today. South East 4 is looking into lighting and having each business tie into the sewer line before ,repaving or having to wait 5 years for any future trench cuts. They are looking into forming a SID. In 2011 from the underpass down Railroad St. will be repaved. There was a good article in the Outlook about business growth in the area. New Business: safety re: 1 Ave. and a cross walk bridge over the railroad, there seems to be some state assistance coming. The railroad bridge will have to be replaced in the next 5 to 10 years. MDT is doing ongoing studies about dangerous railroad crossings at grade. Let Shirley know of any guest speakers you would like invited. The "new movie theater owners" will be invited soon. Dean will try to contact Riley Cook and Bob Ulrich. The Caboose foundation will have to be moved slightly to avoid utilities under the current spot originally chosen. A data center for several rural banks will be locating in Laurel soon next to the glass shop. Steve Zeier and Chris Mehus will present their outline at next meeting with plans to adopt by September 2010.
