architects, historians, archaeologists,
managers of our historic treasures and friends of historic preservation, to share ideas and activities that
promote historic preservation.
Winners of the Eugene T. Carroll Historic Preservation Award and the Best Practices Achievement Award will
be announced during the Roundtable.
Date: Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Location: Broadway III Seminar Room (historic Masonic Temple building)

2010 Call for Submissions
Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board's
Best Practices Achievement Award
Objective The Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board established the Best Practices
Achievement Award to honor outstanding demonstrations of adaptive reuse,
restoration and preservation of historic properties which contribute to
sustainable economic development and the revitalization of historic
neighborhoods in Yellowstone County.
Eligibility Professional organizations as well as individual architects, engineers, general
contractors and developers with projects completed in the last five years and
located in Yellowstone County are welcome to submit entries. Projects must
qualify for one or more of the following criteria:
1. Adaptive Reuse: A rehabilitation project that preserves significant
architectural elements of an historic building, including historic changes,
while making possible efficient contemporary use.
2. Restoration: A project which accurately returns an historic building to an
earlier condition and appearance based on historical or physical evidence.
Preservation: A project which preserves an historic building or landscape
through stabilization of the property by arresting decay or averting
demolition while acknowledging the effects of time on its integrity.
Submission Please submit a completed application form, including project description and
Requirements supporting documentation in the form of small-scale plans and photographs,
no later than February 23, 2010, to:

On-Site Visit Award entrants will have an opportunity to share their projects with members
and staff ofthe Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board during an on-site
visit, which will be scheduled during the selection process.
Winner The winner of the Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board's Best Practices
Notification Achievement Ax+ard will be notified by March 9, 2010. A public presentation
of the award will be made during the Historic Preservation Roundtable on
March 23, 2010.
