The minutes from the August 19thmeeting were approved with no corrections or additions. Financial Report: Checking balance: $338.17 Savings balance: $41,144.58 Deposits since August 19 meeting: Allied Recycling- $105.30 Interest: $19.19 Due to injuries from a fall and some other health problems, Jean Carroll did not have financial statements for August prepared. The board was in agreement that quarterly reports would be sufficient. Carolyn announced that Joette Larson is no longer working at MDU. Carolyn has not been able to contact her. Joette's home phone number has been disconnected Carolyn has sent a letter to her last known home address in Billings, but Joette has not yet responded. Carolyn also announced her retirement intentions. She has decided to retire the end of this year. (The date will be December 15'' -) In January it will be 22 years that she has been the executive director for Bright n' Beautiful. The decision has been a difficult one but she feels it is time to retire. She will spend "volunteer" time if needed to train a replacement and finish up the year- end payroll reports, etc. Dan thanked her for giving the board a 3-month notice to find a replacement. IOSELECTION OF THE 2009 WINNERS was next. Kirsti showed the power point presentation of the nominees and members voted for their favorites. The names of the winners are attached. The United Way Day of Caring is tomorrow. We will be working at Lake Elmo State Park with 15 volunteers. Helen, Lisa and Carolyn will be working with them. Silent auction items are needed. Each board member is asked to get a minimum of four items. The Moss Mansion is asking non-profits to decorate a Christmas tree in the mansion during the first two weeks in November. Trees will be on display from November 14 until January 1St. This year's theme is "Christmas at the Movies". Groups are asked to choose a favorite movie from a list the Moss will provide. Decorations should depict the chosen film. There will be two $150 winners. Dan moved we do not do it but encourage attending- After discussion, Carolyn will e-mail board members to see if someone would be interested in taking on the project. If someone steps up to the plate B n' B would support up to $200 for decorations. Jane seconded. Motion passed.
