Lisa Brandt was introduced to the board. Lisa teaches at Head Start and is interested in becoming more involved in Bright n' Beautiful. She and her husband are our most recent Adapt-A-Spot family. They have adopted Central Ave. between 32d Street west and Shiloh. Financial: Checking balance to date.: $984.8 - Saving balance to date: $47.839.93 Deposits since May meeting: Allied Recycling. $66.58 Interest: $50.37 Janice reviewed the profit and loss statement and the balance sheet as of May 2009. Jean Carroll is accepting the position of treasarer_ Janice trained her on the QuickBooks program for the month of May. Jean Carroll will do the financial reports for June under Janice's guidance. Janice last meeting will be July 15?. Laurel Report on GAC: 85 tires collected --- 9 refrigerators - 3-30 yd. containers of metal - 7-40 yd. bins of garbage equaling 55 tons. Great cleanup! Byron Whitney should have the Web-page up and running in the near future. He called Carolyn while she was in Fargo following her mother's death. Carolyn will contact Byron. • The United Way Day of Caring is Thursday September 17th. Debbie will be out of town. Carolyn asked for project suggestions. For the past three yews our project has been cleaning up the trails and the grounds at Lake Elmo State Park. Debbie felt sure that Terri Walters, Park Operations Supervisor, would be happy to have us there again this year. Helen suggested we approve the Lake Elmo project. Approved. Carolyn will contact Tern. Carolyn asked for nominations for this year's Award Banquet that will be held at the Crowne Plaza on Wednesday October 2e. The deadline for nomination is Augast 21 ". There was discussion on nominating the near Kohl's departmM store and the new Cinema on King and Shiloh. Carolyn will investigate as to who the developer is. Helen said she has talked to Kirsti about doing the Power Point presentation. Helen will confirm. Kristen Jinguji of Friends of Pioneer Park contacted Carolyn again to ask if there was some way Bright n' Beautiful could support their efforts to ban Disc Golf from pioneer park. Again the board echoed the decision made at the May meeting. As a group Bright n' Beautiful cannot support the removal of Disc Golf, but as individuals we may feel free to support it. Janice said she will work the Litter Patrol at Laurel's 0 of July parade. Helen would like to help if her schedule is free. Anyone wishing to help Janice please call her at 672-0512. Parade begins at 11:00 a.m. Carolyn will call the Laurel street department to see if they could supply the small push around trash bins. B n' B will supply the large bags, tongs and vests.
