ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2.68.100 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE,
AMENDING THE PROCEDURE TO MODIFY THE CITY JUDGE'S SALARY.
WHEREAS, Section 2.68. 100 of the Laurel Municipal Code sets the City Judge's annual salary at twenty-
nine thousand six hundred dollars, as previously amended in 2009 by Ordinance No.009-03;
WHEREAS, the City Council sets and modifies salaries for employees and other elected officials by
Resolution;
WHEREAS, the City Judge is currently the only position that requires the modification of a city ordinance
whenever a pay adjustment is necessary,
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the ordinance procedure is cumbersome and inconsistent
with other employees and elected officials of the City of Laurel and should be amended to remedy these problems.
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Laurel, Montana, that Section 2.68. 100 of
the Laurel Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
City Judge - Salary.
The annual salary of the city judge shall be set by the-city council by resolutions t-;*eaty nine tht:alaand six

This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City Council and approved
by the Mayor.
Introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on November 17, 2009, by
Council Member Mace
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second reading this 15th day of
December , 2009, upon motion of Council Member -Rodgers
