FIREHALL REVIEW - PRESENTED BY DEREK YEAGER DEREK HAS BEEN LOOKING AT DIFFERENT WAYS TO ADDRESS THE FIREHALL ISSUE. HE HAS COME UP WITH SEVERAL WAYS TO REDUCE THE COST OF A NEW FIRE HALL AND WANTED TO KNOW IF THE COMMITTEE WOULD LIKE HIM TO CONTINUE PURSUING THESE IDEAS. A. NEW LOCATION - COULD BE ON RAILROAD PROPERTY BETWEEN THE TWO GRAIN ELEVATORS ON MAIN STREET. THIS WOULD REDUCE PROPERTY PURCHASE COST FROM $400,000 TO A LEASE FROM MRL. B. DIFFERENT BUILDING MATERIALS - GO FROM A COMPLETE BRICK BUILDING TO A STEEL BUILDING WITH JUST A BRICK FRONT. C. CHANGE THE FOOTPRINT - BASICALLY CHANGE THE FOOT PRINT OF THE BUILDING TO BETTER FIT LOCATION AND TO SERVICE A COMBINED AMBULANCE AND FIRE DEPT. NARROWER SPACE AND A SQUARE FOOTAGE OF ABOUT 25,000. POSSIBLE ESTIMATE OF COST FOR NEW BUILDING WOULD BE $2 MILLION. WITH ANOTHER $.5 MILLION FOR UPDATES ON THE OLD FAP COMPLEX AFTER NEW BUILDING IS OCCUPIED. COMMITTEE AGREED THAT CHIEF YEAGER SHOULD CONITINUE TO WORK ON THESE IDEAS. LOOKS LIKE A VERY REALISTIC APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM OF A NEW FIRE HALL. MEETING ADJOURNED RESPECTFULLY SUB ITTE , DOUG POEHLS, CHAIRMAN
