LAUREL URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY
September 14, 2009

Members present: Shirley McDermott, Bill Kampfer, Daniel Klein
Advisors present: Steve Zeier, Janice Lehman
Others present: James Caniglia, Linda Frickel
To date there have been 8 returned of the 145 surveys mailed out. Should we have a
large meeting at a later date for all of the property owners and business owners?
Should we hold meetings on a different time and day?
Two additional follow-ups from Randy Hafner: 1) should we focus on a fagade
improvement program, 2) should we work on a technical assistance program with others
in addition to Randy
We should work on first having clean sidewalks then repair as needed. The west
sidewalks will be done next year with the street repair.
We should focus on a strategic plan with an agenda and set of priorities to start with.
Once we have a strategic plan we should publicize it and hold a public meeting to explain
it.
Tractor Supply is moving forward and we should try to get them involved with us
We should try to get information from Cenex on what they are doing for the community
concerning local projects to see if we can help. them in any way.
,Several people from Laurel Alive met with Joe Gentry, Linda Frost and Ben Blakley
from MLR on the Caboose project and the meeting was very positive. It was also
Out at this meeting that they would like to hear other ideas for their property on the south
side of main street to "negotiate" these projects with them. They said there are 350 of
their 600 employees who are from Laurel and they seem to have a good feeling about
Laurel.
