Laurel Public Library Board of Trustees
June 9, 2009
Attending:
Clair Killebrew (presiding), Bruce McCullough, Christy Smith, Rachelle
Tresch and Nancy Schmidt.
Minutes:
The minutes of the May 12, 2009 meeting were read and approved.
Correspondence
The library was sent a donation for the Laurel Library Trust in memory of
Gwen Nottingham. Nancy forwarded the donation to Peggy Arnold.
Circulation Report
Traffic for May 2009 was 1,913 patrons, up 8.5% over May 2009. Circulation
for materials was 3,183 items, up % from May 2009. Circulation of books
alone was 2,883, up 37.2% over last May. The biggest increase in circulating
items was books. There were also 700 internet computer users for the month
of May and 34 children's computer users. The total computer use is down for
May 2009.
Old Business
Jan Naylor has submitted an application for use of the community room for
tutoring. Since she will be charging for her services, it has been suggested that
a donation could be accepted in lieu of charging Jan for use of the room.
Bruce delivered a Wal-Mart grant application to the library. There was
discussion concerning who should fill out and submit the application for the
library. Nancy will fill it out and ask Karen to sign it on behalf of the Friends
of the Library.
MSC - Montana Shared Catalog has billed the library for its services. The
cost is slightly higher than last year but lower than Nancy expected.
Magician Cody Langstrom is scheduled to perform at the library during
afternoon reading activities on June 17th at 1:00 pm. The Friends of the Laurel
Public Library will pay for Cody's performance.
