RELATING TO THFa CREATION OF SPECIAL I149PROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 9
IN THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA, FOR THE, PURPOSE Or LAYING
EXTENSIONS TO THU; WATER TIAINS OF SAID CITY; DESCRIBING THE
BOUNDARIES OF SUCH DISTRICT; STATING THE APPROXI14ATE ESTIMATE
OF THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AND ACQUIRING THE PROPOSED Il1PROVE-
11ENTS, AND THE PORTION OF THE COST '.C]IEHEOF WHICH IT IS PROPOSED
TO HAVE PAID BY SPECIAL ASSESSMENT; AND FIXING THE TI1& WHEN
THE COUNCIL WILL HEAR OBJECTIONS THERETO.
Whereas, the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana,
desires to create a Special Improvement District for the purpose of
laying extensions to the water mains of said City, and there having
been filed with the City Clerk and presented to the Council a
petition praying for the creation of such Special Improvement
District, such petition being signed by the owners of more than
fifty-one (511) per cent. of all lots and parcels of land situate
within the boundaries of the proposed district as hereinafter
defined;-
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA;
Section 1. That the said City Council desires to lay
extensions to the water mains of said City of
for such purpose there is hereby created a Bpi
District under and pursuant to the provisions
3416, both inclusive, of the Revised Codes of
Section 2. That the number of said
District is hereby designated as No. 9.

Special Improvement
Section 3. That the boundaries of said Special improve-
ment District No. 9 are hereby designated, described and declared
to be as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the center line of the
alley in Block Seventeen (17), Laurel Realty Second Subdivision,
extended, with the center line of Fifth Street; thence East on
the center line of Fifth Street to a point on the line between
Lots Eight (8) and Nine (9), block Twenty-five (25), Laurel Realty
Second Subdivision, extended; thence North on the line between
said Lots Eight (8) and Nine (9) to the center line of the alley
in said Block Twenty-five (25); thence East on the center line of
said alley to the center line of Idaho Avenue; thence South to
the center line of Fifth Street; thence East on the center line of
Fifth Street to the East line of the alley in Block Twenty-nine
(29), Allard Subdivision, extended; thence South on the East line
of said alley and the East line of Lot Six (6) in said Block Twenty
nine (29) to the center line of First Street; thence Southwesterly
along the center line of First Street to its intersection with the
West line of Lot Five (5), Block Eleven (11), Laurel }fealty Second
Subdivision, extended; thence North along the Jest line of said
Lot Five (5), the West line of Lot Five (5), Block Seventeen (17),
Laurel Realty Second Subdivision, and the center line of the alley
in said Block Seventeen (17) to the center line of Fifth Street,
the point of beginning.
Section 4. That the approximate estimate of the coat
of constructing and acquiring the proposed improvements is Twenty-
Six Hundred Twenty ($2620.00) Dollars, and that such improvements
consist principally of the laying of approximately seventeen
hundred seventy-six (1776) feet of six inch wooden pipe, together
with the installation of all necessary hydrants and connections,
gate valves, valve boxes and other accessories necceseary for the
proper completion and operation of said water main extensions.

Section 5. That the entire cost of making said
extensions and improvements shall be paid by special, assessments
to be levied upon the lots and parcels of land situate within the
boundaries of said district as above described, each lot or parcel
of land within said district to be assessed for that part of the
whole Cost of said improvements which its area bears to the area
of the entire district as above described, exclusive of streets,
alleys and public places; provided, however, that the whole cost
so assessed shall at no time exceed the sum of One and 50/100
(1.50) Dollars per linear foot of the entire length of the water
main extensions laid in such district.
Section 6. That said special assessments shall be paid
in six equal annual installments, beginning; with the year 1915;
such special assessments shall be levied, assessed and collected
in the manner provided for the levy, assessment and collection of
other special assessments now provided for under the laws of the
State of Montana. All funds received from the payment of such
special assessments shall constitute a separate fund, to be known
as "Fund of Special Improvement District No. 9":
Section 7. That Tuesday, the second day of March, 1915,
at eight o'clock P. M., is hereby designated as the time, and the
Council Chamber in the City Hall at Laurel, Montana, as the place,
at which the Council will hear objections and consider protests
to the final adoption of this resolution; at which time and place
any owner of any lot or parcel of land situate within the bound-
aries of said Special Improvement District, as above described, may
appear either in person or by agent or attorney, and object to the
adoption of this resolution, or show cause, if any there be, why
the said improvements should not be made.
Section 8. That this resolution shall be published in
the Laurel Outlook, a weekly newspaper of general circulation
published in said City of Laurel, in one regular issue thereof at
least five days prior to said second day of March, 1915.

Section 9. That this resolution be, and the same is,
hereby declared to be an emergency measure, providing for and
including only such measures as are immediately necessary for
the preservation of peace, health and safety, and as such
emergency resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval.
Provisionally passed by the City Council and approved
by the Mayor this 23rd day of February, 1915.
