HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 03.07.1989Minutes of the City Council of Laurel March 7, 1989 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Bob Gauthier at 7:00 p.m. on March 7, 1989. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Ron Marshall Donna Kilpatrick Chuck Rodgers L.D. Collins Chuck Dickerson Norman Orr Bruce Teeters COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Bob Graham INVOCATION: Invocation was given by Alderman Collins. MINUTES: Motion by Alderman Dickerson to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of February 21, 1989, as presented, seconded by Alderman Orr. Motion carried 7--0. CORRESPONDENCE: Received a letter from Parks advising the City the top three out of 19 upon federal approval. the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and that the Thompson Park project ranked among applications. The funds should be available Received a letter from the City of Billings regarding the defeat of Senate Bill 265 - Water Reservation Bill. CLAIMS: Claims for the month of February were reviewed by the Budget/Finance Committee and recommended that they be paid. Motion by Alderwoman Kilpatrick to approve all claims in the amount of $ 189,657.63 for the month of February, seconded by Alderman Collins. Motion carried 7--0. COMMITTEE REPORTS: --Budget/Finance Committee minutes of February 21, 1989 were presented and reviewed. Motion by Alderman Collins to enter the Budget/Finance minutes of February 21, 1989, into the record, seconded by Orr. Motion carried 7--0. Committee Alderman --City Council Committee of the Whole minutes of February 21, were presented. 1989 Motion by Alderman Dickerson to enter the City Council of the Whole minutes of February 21, 1989, into the record, by Alderman Orr. Motion carried 7--0. Committee seconded --Fire Committee reviewed. minutes of February 27, 1989 were presented and Motion by Alderman Rodgers to enter the Fire Committee minutes of February 27, 1989, into the record, seconded by Alderman Dickerson. Motion carried 7--0. Page2 Minutes Of the City Council of Laurel Council Meeting of March 7, 1989 --Parks Committee minutes of February 23, 1989 were presented and reviewed. Motion by Alderwoman Kilpatrick to enter the Parks minutes of February 23, 1989, into the record, seconded by Dickerson. Motion carried 7--0. Committee Alderman --Police/Building Committee minutes of March 2, 1989 were presented and reviewed. Motion by Alderman Rodgers to minutes of March 2, 1989, into Dickerson. Motion carried 7--0. enter the Police/Building the record, seconded by Committee Alderman Discussion followed regarding the franchise with Laurel Cable TV. The Mayor stated that more information is being obtained and it will be ready for the Council's consideration at the first meeting in April. COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE: Roy Williams stated that Laurel Museum Inc. will hold an open house on March 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the museum and he would like to personally invite everyone to attend. Chuck Dickerson questioned whether the city or the council itself has any independent plans for the centennial celebration. The Mayor stated Darrell McGilien has some plans and he is working with the Steering Committee concerning them. He will report on it at the next meeting. MAYOR'S COMMENTS: None There being no further business to come before the Council at time, the meeting was adjourned at 7:14 p.m. Donald L.
