HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 519t • ORDINANCE NO. 519 AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE DEPOSIT UPON THE ODNNECTION OF WATER SERVICE TO A USER OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, BE IT OR- DAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA: Section 1: That whereas water users of the water dep- artment of the City of Laurel, Montana, have inthe past moved and left the City of Laurel having an unpaid water bill and whereas in order Lo protect the water department of the City of Laurel, Montana against such loss, it is necessary that a deposit of sufficient size be required before water service is granted to any user. Section 2: No person, firm, association, partnership, corporation, or user shall be allowed service for water from the City of Laurel without first depositing with said City Water Department the sum of Ten Dollars ($10.00). The said deposit will be evidenced by a certificate issued to said applicant, which said certificate will be redeemed by the City of Laurel upon the termination of water service and the full payment of any water bill owed by said applicant. No interest shall be allowed on said deposit. Section 3: The water department of the City of Laurel is hereby authorized to charge against said deposit any water account owed and unpaid by said applicant upon the termination of water service. Section 4: All previous certificates issued shall be and remain in full force and effect. However, no such previous certificate issued shall be or entitle any applicant to reissue after the cancellation and surrender of the same, except under the provisions of this ordinance. Section 5: Any Ordinance or portion thereof in conflict with this Ordinance is hereby repealed. Section 6: An urgency and emergency for this Ordinance is hereby declared to, and does exist and the same shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
