ORDINANCE NO. 539
BEING AN ORDINANCE CREATING SWEEPING DISTRICT
NO. one , IN THE DOWNTOWN OR BUSINESS AREA
OF THE CITY OF LAUREL AND THE PROVIDING FOR
THE. PAYMENT OF THE COST THEREOF
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL:
Section 1: That whereas it appears to the City Council of the City of
Laurel, that for health and sanitation reasons that it is to the best interest of the
City of Laurel and its inhabitants that a district be set up in the congested, down-
town or business area, as hereinafter set forth, for the purpose of sweeping and
cleaning dirt, dust, paper and other debris from the streets.
Section 2: That for the purpose of paying the necessary costs for the
maintenance and operation of said sweeping district, that the City Council of the
ty of Laurel will henceforth, by resolution each year, assess against the prop-
ty of each and every property owner within said district the pro-rata cost of the
strict for that proper owner based upon the area of his property holdings to the
district.
Section 3: Therefore, it is ordained that Sweeping District No. one
and hereby is created for the purpose of sweeping and cleaning dirt, dust, pape
l other debris from the streets of the City of Laurel within said district and that
?e said sweeping shall be done under the direction and control of the City Engineer
his delegated assistants of the City of Laurel, and said City Engineer is hereby
ven the authority to designate times and places when said street sweeping will be
ine to post signs in regard thereto, to remove any vehicles parked in said streetw
violation of said posted times of sweeping.
Section 4: The boundaries of said sweeping district and the area that
shall encompass is as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of Main Street and
Wyoming Avenue, thence South 70034' West along
the Center line of Main Street to the East line of
Montana Avenue projected, thence-South 19026'
East, a distance of 150 feet, thence South 70034'
West a distance of 380 feet to the East Line of
First Avenue projected, thence North 19026'

West a distance of 150 feet to the center line of
Min Street, thence South 70034' West along the
center line of Main Street to the West Line of
Block 3 of the original Townsite of East Laurel
projected, thence South 150 feet, thence West
to the West line of Lot 5 in Block 4 of the orig-
inal Townsite of East Laurel projected, thence
North 150 feet to the center line of Main Street
thence.East 190 feet along the center line of
Min Street to the center line of Fourth Avenue,
thence North along the center line of Fourth
Avenue to its intersection with the center line
of the East-West alley in Block 3 of the original
townsite of East Laurel, thence North 70034'
East along the center fine of the alley to the
center line of Second Avenue., thence North
19024' West to the center line of First Street,
thence North 70034' East along the center line
of First Street to the center line of Second Avenue
thence North along the center line of Second
Avenue to the center line of Second Street, thence
East along the center line of Second Street pro-
jected to the center line of the alley in Block 9
of the original Townsite of East Laurel, thence
North along the center line of the alley to the
center line of Third Street, thence East along
the center line of Third Street a distance of
380 feet to the center line of the alley projected,
thence South along the center line of the alley
to the center line of First Street, thence North
700341 East to the center line of Montana Avenue,
thence South 190261 along the center line of
Montana Avenue to the center line of the East-
West alley in Block 2 of the Laurel Realty Sub
division, thence North 700341 East along the
center line of. the alley to the center line of
Wyoming Avenue, thence South. 190261 East
along the center line of Wyoming Avenue to
the center line of Main Street; said point
also being the beginning point.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, and approved
