BEING AN ORDINANCE DECLARING IT TO BE A NUI-
SANCE AND A MISDEMEANOR TO USE EXCESSIVE
WATER FOR IRRIGATION PURPOSES WITHIN THE
CITY OF LAUREL
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LAUREL,:
Section 1: That Wwreas the City Council of the City of Laurel
has found that it is necessary for the health and well-being of the inhabitants
of the City of Laurel to control excessive irrigation of laws within the City of
Laurel. That such excessive irrigation allows water to run off the said lawns
into the gutters and collect at low spots along the City streets and does thereby
create a nuisance; and such excessive use of water does, during the summer
months, create a shortage of water from the supply system of the City of Laurel.
Section 2: It is therefore declared to be a nuisance and a misdemeanor
punishable as hereinafter set forth for any individual having under his control
or direction the irrigation of any lawns and shrubbery within the City of Laurel,
or for any other reason to excessively irrigate the lawns and shrubbery or to
allow water to collect thereon to such an extent that the same overflows and
collects in the gutters of the said City -streets.
Section 3: That any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to
a fine of not less than $5.00 nor more than $50.00.
Section 4: An urgency and emergency for this Ordinance is hereby
declared to, and does exist, and the same shall take effect and be inforce from
and after its passage.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, and approved
this / day of July, 1959.
