ORDINANCE NO 550
BEING AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF CIVIL DEFENSE
DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY OF LAUREL, DEFINING ITS DUTIES AND
EMPOWERING THE CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR TO CARRY OUT THE
SAME.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL:
Section 1. That in accordance with the Montana Civil Defense Act
of 1951, there is hereby created in the City of Laurel the Office of Civil
Defense Director.
Section 2. That the said office shall be filled by the appointment
of the Mayor, with the concurrence of the City Council, for an indefinite term.
Section 3. That no salary shall be paid to the said Civil Defense
Director, but that he shall be allowed such expense money as the City Council
of the City of Laural may from time to time decide is necessary.
Section 4. That the said Civil Defense Director shall organize,
administer and operate any such organization for Civil Defense as he may
deem necessary, with the concurrence of the said City Council.
Section 5. That the said Director, or his successor in office be
and hereby is empowered, in the case of subversive action or enemy action,
to use any City equipment or any kind and description and he may call upon
any or all employees of the City of Laurel to assist him.
Section 6. That there is hereby declared to be an emergency and
this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage.
