the land is city or county property and Jim Worthington clarified that
the land is owned by the city.
Regarding the question of funding for improvements, Don

COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE:
Cal Cumin gave a legislative update on planning and economic
development issues that concern this area.
Ernie Freund, representing the Laurel Rod and Gun Club, requested
permission to use South Pond for two trout derbies. The Fish and Game
Department will plant and tag trout in the pond and the club will
charge so much per person to fish for the tagged trout.
The first derby will be open to anyone. If any tagged trout remain
after the first weekend, a second derby will be set for the following
weekend and will be open to children only, with no fee charged. If
there are any tagged trout left after the derbies, anyone catching
these fish can bring them to the Rod and Gun Club and receive a cash
prize.
Alderman Kellogg stated he is in favor of this but requested that the
club keep the Parks Committee informed of what is taking place.
