Old Business
Nancy attended the MLA Conference April 22 through April 25 in Kalispell.
She reported on the number of workshops available and those that she
attended. The workshops included digitizing records for future reference,
evaluating library boards, library foundations, changing certification for
librarians, freedom of expression, and the future of libraries.
Nancy will attend the MSC Director's Station training in Bozeman on May
2 1St and the MSC Spring membership meeting on May 22
na
Sue and Randy Fox donated a variety of books to the library valued at $1,000.
Geralyn and Nancy gave Sue a list of items that had been requested by
patrons so that she could purchase those books that would likely see the most
traffic.
Training for Census Bureau employees has completed. All trainees were very
thankful that they had an open facility such as the library that could be used
by everyone, rather than one person's home.
Summer lawn care will be managed by Robertus Lawn Service with Lush
Green Lawns providing weed prevention.
New Business
The summer reading program starts June 1, 2009 and concludes July 31,
2009. The theme this year is: Be Creative @ Your Library or Express
Yourself @ Your Library.
There has been no further word on budget meetings. As soon as Nancy has
more information, she will call the board members.
Rachelle has expressed an interest in advocacy for the library. Nancy has
suggested that she meet with different groups in the area to let them know that
the library is available for trainings and meetings. This will be discussed
further at the next board meeting.
A new door handle/lock has been installed on the employee door. The cost is
over $400 but this is less expensive than repairing the old lock numerous
times.
