HomeMy WebLinkAboutEmergency Services Committee Minutes 06.22.2009MINUTES EMERGENCY SERVICES COMMITTEE JUNE 229 2009 5:30 P.M. COUNCIL CHAMBERS Members Present: Doug Poehls Norm Stamper Others Present: Derek Yeager Bill Sheridan There was not a quorum present at the meeting. Derek provided some background information regarding AMR and the City of Laurel. He stated that the city's ambulance service is a basic life service. The city contacted AMR, when the advanced care was needed (ALS). The city had entered into a contract with AMR. However, the ambulance director was opposed to this agreement and advised that no other city or town had a contract with AMR. The contract was then terminated. AMR has presented a different agreement with the city. When the city calls AMR, it will respond and meet the city ambulance at an identified location and the patient will be transferred to AMR and transported to the hospital. AMR will pay the city $130 for each call and replace any of the city's disposable equipment each month. AMR will bill the patient for the call. Derek stated the benefit of this agreement is a reduction of liability to the city, and the city's ambulance would be out a shorter length of time. Also, the city will receive income from each of these calls, and reduce Laurel's billing and collections of services. Respectfully submitted, Neva Hall Secretary
