Members present: Chairman Larry Peterson B. Lonnie Kellogg Marvin Carter ans y e e Other's present: Bonnie Killebrew A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by the committee: Bonnie Killebrew requested the City put stop signs at So. 4th Ave. and West Ave. & Forrest Ave. to slow down traffic during school hours. It was noted the City is going to put up some new speed limit and school crossing signs this spring. It was recommended: 1) The Street & Alley Committee to ask the Transportation Director for South School to direct the buses to use So. 8th Avenue for their approach to the school. 2) That the police provide some additional patroling and citing of speed limit violator, near So. School for a couple weeks to see if that will correct the problem.. 3) That the City Engineer get a traffic count and accident count to determine if . stop signs should be required. The Street &.Alley & Garbage.Committees heard a proposal from Larry Peterson concerning development of the existing 112 alley south of Maryland Lane, west of 8th Avenue, to provide garbage service for lots in the Willow Creek Subdivision and the existing house on Maryland Lane west of 8th Avenue. When the Willow Creek Subdivision was annexed there was no alley r/o/w dedicated to the City to match the 12' dedicated from Cherry Hills side. Security Federal Savings & Loan was approached for an 8' easement across the "back" lots to make.the alley wide enough for garbage pickup and grader maintenances. The City would develop the alley which would involve grading and graveling. The Garbage Committee recommended the alley be developed for garbage pickup if the easement can be obtained and referred it to the Street & Alley Committee for final action. Because a quorum was not present for the Street Committee further action was not taken. The Garbage Committee discussed a proposal from Component Structures to fabricate some devices to prevent tipping of the 300-gal, cans. The committee approved purchase of 50 such "rings" at $47 as a trial method to see if these would prevent the problems from wind tipping the cans. Village Subdivision would be the first area to receive some of these devices. Vern Halvorson page 2 2/9/83 joint meeting The Garbage Committee approved the wording of a.resolution requiring developers to provide anti-tipping devices and all- weather pads for garbage cans. Respectfully submitted, Larry S. Peterson Director of Public Works
