PARK COMMITTEE
SEPT. 23, 1993
5:00 P.M. TO 6:25 P.M.
•
ATTENDING: Gay Easton, Jim Flisrand, Emelie Eaton, Lon
Kellogg, Bill Brennan, Donna Kilpatrick,
Others: Dick Potter, Laurel American Legion Team rep.,
Mayor Chuck Rodgers, Dave Michael, Peggy
Schram
Potter presented the financial report for the 1993
summer concession sales of the Laurel Litttle League and
the American Legion teams. There was $177736 in total
sales and $5,440.67 in profit.fuz ---h . A balance
sheet is attached.
Permission was granted to locate a van (much like the
back of a SchW*& truck) in the area near the batting cage
in Athletic Field. The van and the old concession stand
will be painted in the same color other buildings in the
park are painted. The painting will be done in an Eagle
Scout project being completed by Mark Potter. Some new
bleachers may also be constructed.
A drainage problem exists near the area of the
concession stand. Dave will look-into a possible solution.
Water from heavy rains drain from the baseball field into
the concession stand.
Ken Tolliver is interested in moving along with the
development of the park in Alder Ridge Subdivision. A sale
or lease of a portion of the park would need an election
because the park is dedicated. Donna will talk to Cal
concerning the development. A written plan is needed for
whatever Tolliver is intending to do.
Sprinkler systems are in the process of being installed
in the triangle parks. The sidewalk is being replaced in
the park at the Washington and East First. St. and a
sprinkler system installed.
A problem exists with groups moving into parks and
using them for practice etc. without first seeking
permission. The parks are in demand and some system has be
used in order to prevent damage to the turf. In the future
we will try to educate the schools and organizations in
order to have them approach the park committee with their Xb
practice plans. V '

Discussion was held on repairing the swimming pool.
Major repair is needed to repair leaks in the circulating
system. Dave and Jim will be get an estimate cost figure
for the repair.
Kids riding their three-wheelers in South Pond is a
problem. We need to check to see if we can restrict
motorized vehicles in that area. We will also check to see
about getting ties from the railroad in order to outline a
road. Howard Guenthner's group is interested in raising
funds to improve the park area.
Res ectively sub ittgd,
Donna G. Kilpatricl?_"_'
chairman.
