PARK CONMTTEE
July 13, 1995
Attending: Lonnie Kellogg, Ron Faught, Gay Easton, Dan Lowell, Jim Flisrand,
Donna Kilpatrick, chairman. Emelie Eaton arrived late and found the
door locked and was unable to attend the meeting.
A request by the Easter Seal Foundation to use Fireman's Park,or any
city park, was considered by the committee. After discussion, it was
was decided that perhaps Riverside Park would be the best choice. The
group wishes to have a fund raiser that would involve several 30' lighted
displays at Christmas during the month of December. People would
pay $5 to drive through the display. The committee also suggested
the area on railroad property near the old depot. It may not be large
enough and Riverside Park could then be an option.
The 10 p.m. curfew in the parks was discussed with the committee unable
to reach a decision. The current curfew is 12 midnight to 6 a.m.
during which time the parks are closed.
Also discussed was:
Lights in Athletic Field being on at 11 p.m. and after when a game
is not in progress; perhaps a practice is being held. Jim will check
with Steve Arenson on this.
Vehicles in Thomson Park is a problem. People are driving right up
to the door of the concession stand and just leaving their vehicles
there. Jim has a plan to improve a service road into the park and
then it can be strictly a nforced to have no vehicles driving through
the park.
The American Legion team's group had a proposition concerning
reroofing the old concession stand in Athletic Field; but did not
appear at the meeting.
Jim has budgeted about $10,000 for use at Riverside Park to
upgrade the camper hook-ups and perhaps add some more
and to do some road repair. Lonnie said he would like some of
that spent on upgrading South Pond. He as a plan for upgrading
that pond area that he is currently working on.
The pool and recreation program seem to be working ok..
The meeting adjourned at 5:57
