Jim Flisrand
Gay moved, Bill seconded that we allow Debbie Smith of the First
Baptist Church to use the soccer field at Murray Park on November
3rd from 3 to 5 p.m., if Jim's calendar has no other group using
the park at that time. Motion carried.
The Laurel Chamber of Commerce is obtaining estimates to renovate
the existing building and possibly expand out to the east a few
feet. The task committee is meeting weekly to keep the program
active and to assure all items are addressed.
Unable to obtain an update on the park program initiated by Ken
Tolliver at Village subdivision. Staff will continue to request
information from Mr. Tolliver.
All concrete culverts have been removed from the City parks.
Originally, pieces of pipe were placed in a few parks for children
to play on, however the concrete pieces are becoming unsafe.
No activity or correspondence from the Lions Club regarding the
possible project at South Pond.
Winter work pertaining to the park improvements has not
materialized however following year end construction work efforts
to design and build park shelters will begin.
A request was received from the Girls Softball Association to
switch fields with the Little League and use the field near Graff
School and let the boys use the baseball complex on E. 8th Street.
The Park committee doesn't have any problem with that arrangement.
We have not received a financial report from the Little League and
the American Legion baseball team for the concession stand sales
for the summer. We will contact Steve Arneson and Mark Mace for
that report.
The next Park meeting will be November 30th at 5:00 p.m. in the
council chambers. This change of date is due to Thanksgiving
falling on our regular meeting date.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:24 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Kilpatrick, Chairman
