Nov. 30,1995
5 pm. to 5:47 p.m.
ATTENDING: Lonnie Kellogg, Gay Easton, Jim Flisrand, Dave
Michael; Dan Lowell
Donna Kilpatrick, chairman
Jim reported on the progress of the remodeling of the log cabin in
Fireman's Park. Jim and Mayor Rodgers represent the city on that
committee. The architect suggested that improvements be added to the
existing structure rather than start anew. The lease with the railroad on
the land is currently held by the City. The committee may apply for a
historical listing which could allow for qualifying for CTEP funding.
CTEP funds could also be utilized for development at the South Pond
area.
We will meet with members of the organizations who have meeting
places in Riverside Park about securing a new lighted sign to replace the
sign that is currently located at the entrance to the park. Jim will send a
letter to the organizations requesting a Feb. 4 meeting with the park
committee.
Jim will search out lifeguard certification classes that may be
offered at the various colleges in Billings. The committee discussed the
possibility of increasing supervisory duties for the recreation director. We
will study that proposal further.
The switch-field plan approved by the committee for the Laurel
Girl's Softball Association from Nutting field to the Graff School field
can not be arranged and is cancelled. The school is planning to upgrade
that area to be used as a middle school football practice field.
The next meeting of the park committee is Jan. 11.
