HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Committee Minutes 03.14.1996PARK COMMITTEE
. MARCH 14,1996
Attending: Gay Easton, Dave Michael, Andy Loebe, Jim Flisrand,
Donna Kilpatrick, chairman
Others: Mark Kauffman and Dusty Ballantine, Laurel Police Reserve;
Jean Carroll Thompson representing the Christmas to
Remember, Evergreen Rebekah Lodge and the Laurel Arts
and Crafts Guild.
Letters had been sent inviting past participating groups in the Laurel
Fourth of July celebration to attend the meeting to make plans for this
year's event. The Fourth of July falls on a Thursday and the committee
wanted a consensus of feelings concerning how many days was needed
for the celebration this year. Those in attendance agreed we should have
the celebration on July 3rd and 4th. Other sessions will be held in order
to outline details and past participating organizations will again be
notified. A deadline of June 1 was set for applying to have a booth
or event in the park on July 4.
Gay moved, Jim seconded that we allow the Christmas to Remember to
use Fireman's Park on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28 for the
annual Festival in the Park.
Seventeen applications have been received for the lifeguard/manager
positions at the pool. Information is still needed from Rocky Mountain
College concerning the lifeguard certification classes being offered. An
assessment of the condition of the pool and how it wintered will be
available later.
Jim will continue to check on prices and possibilities of a new sign at the
entrance of Riverside Park.
Other discussion included possible funding for a new pool and the
possibility of having the swimming pool crew water flowers near the
Thomson Park monument if the Laurel Garden Club members planted
the flowers. More study is needed on both topics.
The meeting adjourned at 6:14 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Donna Kilpatrick, chairman
