Attending: Gay Easton, Bill Brennan, Jim Flisrand
Donna Kilpatrick, chairman
Others: Jayne Barnes, recreation director.
Jayne presented a report on the progress of the recreation program. She will be in
charge of swimming lessons, registration, locating a person to teach the guards how to
teach lessons, etc. She is in the process of setting up the various programs that will be
offered and will have a complete list of sessions for the council prior to printing the
registration pamphlet.
Mike Atkinson has been named pool manager; Nate Huschka, assistant manager;
Lisa Gratwohl and Henry Griffin, head lifeguards. Applications for lifeguards are being
reviewed and interviews will be set up soon. Weather permitting, the pool will open June
10.
The deadline for applying for a booth in the park for the Fourth of July was May
21 and those organizations applying include: The Laurel Volunteer Fire Department and
Auxiliary;' the Laurel Jaycees; Christmas to Remember,lnc.; the Evergreen Rebekah Lodge;
the Laurel Arts and Crafts Guild; Bear Construction Girls Softball team; Laurel Little League
and Laurel Dodgers Baseball team. We did not hear from the Laurel Chamber of
Commerce and the Pioneer Kiwanis Club.
