HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Committee Minutes 07.25.1996Park Committee
July 25, 1996
5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.
ATTENDING: Miles Walton, Gay Easton, Andy Loebe,
Donna Kilpatrick, chairman.
OTHERS: Bonnie Hofland, Laurie Michunovich
Bonnie and Laurie attended the meeting in opposition to
the "no towel" rule at the swimming pool. Following their
presentation, it was suggested that we arrange a towel area
in one corner of the pool and when swimmers needed to use
a towel they could go to that area. The rule has been in effect
for several years due to the fact the towels find their way into
the pool causing problems with the filtering system; they create a
discipline problem when swimmers get them wet and
"snap" other swimmers with them; and it opens
Pandora's Box to allow other items into the pool.
The deck area is small and doesn't allow for many
things to be brought pool side. We will check on the
feasibility of a towel area.
Andy gave a park report. All restrooms have been
renovated and painted. Sod is being removed around
the trees and placed in non-grassy areas in the parks,
namely Thomson Park. Wood chips are being placed
around the trees and will allow for mowing right up
to the tree and will cut out the need for weed eating
around the trees. The parks look very nice this year.
Crews are working to remove the "suckers" or
"shoots" that grow at the base or on the trunk of
several trees in the parks and the cemetery.
A Fourth of July evaluation meeting is set for
Thursday Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
Key personnel in the planning of theFourth of July
event will be notified of the meeting.
The next meeting of the park committee will
be Aug. S at 5 p.m.
Respectfully s miffed,
Donna G. Kilpatriick
