HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Committee Minutes 08.08.1996PARK COMMITTEE
August S, 1996
5 p.m.
ATTENDING: Gay Easton, Miles Walton, Andy Loebe, Jim Flisrand,
Dave Michael, Donna Kilpatrick, chairman
OTHERS: Lonnie Kellogg,
Lonnie Kellogg attended the meeting and explained the Lions Club plans
to improve the recreation area at South Pond Park. The club will pay for a grant
writer to apply for CTEP funds. Gay Easton moved, Miles seconded that we
support the Lions Club's project and their application for funds as long as it does
not exceed the $35,000 allowed from the CTEP funds. Motion carried. The process
for application may take 3 to 6 months.
We asked Jim to check into the progress of an agreement we have with Ken
Tolliver on developing the park in the Village Subdivision. The 50 month agreement
should be nearing an end.
A complaint from Duane Swecker had been received concerning the
agreement the Laurel Little League and the Dodger Baseball organization had in
allowing a private individual to operate the concession stand for them this past
summer. However, Mr. Swecker did not attend the meeting.
The committee would like to have contact with the LL and Dodger groups as
soon as new officers are elected and set up a communication program with the two
groups that perhaps will continue through the season, keeping the committee better
informed of activities there next year.
We will contact Brooke Knutson concerning her request for some
development in the park near.her home in Bobcat Square. The area is outside of the
city limits; but is located in our park jurisdiction. Some funds should be available in
the county park budget for development of the park.
The meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
Res ectfully submitted,
Donna G. Kilpatrick chairman
