ATTENDING: Gay Easton, Miles Walton, Andy Loebe, Dave Michael,
Donna Kilpatrick, chairman.
OTHERS: Jayne Barnes, recreation director.
Jane reported on the summer recreation program The program went
very well; swimming lessons was the biggest chore. About 200 people were turned
away. There were 22 different recreation classes offered through the summer. An
analysis of the receipts and expenses will be made by Dave Michael of the summer
recreation program. The committee thanked Jayne for doing a great job of
promoting and operating the program.
Dave moved and Gay seconded that we pay for the lifeguard certification for
Joe Herr for this season only. (Herr had enrolled in the certification program last
year but did not finish the course and was not a lifeguard last year. He had applied
for the costs for both years to be paid by the city.) Motion carried.
Dave moved, Miles seconded that we deny refunds for three persons who
had enrolled in the summer recreation program and for one reason or another could
not attend the classes. Motion carried. The committee has agreed that refunds are
made for illness only.
The restrooms in Thomson Park will be closed Sept. 15. Picnic tables will be
moved to the pool for winter storage.
The next meeting will be Sept. 26. The committee will be meeting once a
month now since the busy season in the park is over.
