SEPTEMBER 26, 1996

is ATTENDING: Miles Walton, Bill Brennan, Jim Flisrand, Dave
Michael, Andy Loebe, Dirk Kroll
Discussion was held on the student parking in Thomson Park on East Eighth
St. across from the high school. Although a formal request has not been received to
prohibit parking in that area, the committee agreed that no parking could be
enforced there during the school year and not during the entire year. The area was
intended as a parking lot in the initial park plans and is used during the summer by
baseball players, etc.
The committee approved a request by the Homeschoolers organization to use
Murray Park for a soccer game on Saturday, Oct. 5. The date does not conflict with
the schedule of the Yellowstone Christian School, whose schedule we had received
prior to their season opener.
Reports were given on the various parks and plans for winterizing the
toilets,etc. for the winter.
Discussion was held on the summer recreation program and a
expense/receipt report, prepared by Dave Michael, is attached. Thought will be
given to increasing the salary of the recreation director for the 1997-98 budget.
• The recreation program has been greatly expanded and has been very successful
the past two years. The lifeguard/ swimming lesson program at the pool was also
discussed and plans are to begin earlier in the year in preparing for both those
programs.
The contract we have with Ken Tolliver for work being done in the dedicated
park area in the Alder Ridge Trailer Park has about two years remaining.
The meeting adjourned at 5:49 p.m. The next meeting of the park committee
will be Oct. 24.
